Addictions to drug and alcohol are an increasingly significant problem in the workplace today. The fast paced life-style of so many working men and women can lead them to quick fixes to the stressful demands placed and them in and out of work. Addictions affect not only individuals but everyone in contact with that individual. Many employees affected by addiction are never confronted or treated for their illness. Most employers do not realize there is an alternative to ignoring and/or firing a once valuable employee. In many cases, intervention and treatment is a worthwhile option.

Family Intervention

Posted in Intervention

Has your family been negatively impacted by drug or alcohol abuse? Many families experience confusion, disruption and conflict due to the drug and/or alcohol addiction of one or more members. While many families continually attempt to understand or change an addicted individual, she/he will continue to struggle if not treated, potentially harming his or herself as well as other family members. In a crisis situation such as this, a family intervention may be the best method to stop the destructive cycle of addiction.

What is an Intervention?

Posted in Intervention

An intervention is an attempt to interrupt an individual’s negative behaviors. In many circumstances intervention may be the only way to stop a person from severely harming his/herself or others. Often family, friends or coworkers are able to stop a person before an addiction causes dire consequences. A professional intervention allows an individual to become aware that his/her drug or alcohol abuse has affected those surrounding him or her. It shows a concern for change.
